And this is just the beginning
for telecom there is a large market of jobs in the telecom
field as well.
Many employees in the field of
telecom find themselves seeking new employment.
Some blame this occurrence on outsourcing. Many companies
are now outsourcing jobs to other countries in order to save
money.
The United States telecom job
market is being lost and it is estimated that 3.3 million
jobs with move overseas during the next decade. About 400,000
of these jobs are in the telecom field.
Many people are trying to say
that outsourcing is not a problem but it is a solution for
many businesses. BellSouth uses overseas workers for their
help desk assistance for their DSL customers. Verizon uses
around 400 workers in India for projects that include clients
ordering DSL.
Many believe that outsourcing
our telecom jobs is just a way for globalization. This helps
to boosts international trade and international profits. The
public however, is not happy about the jobs going overseas.
The telecom companies stand behind their saying of: “we
have a duty to shareholders and, in the absence of regulations,
have no choice."
Telecom companies should look
ahead and focus more on growth of their companies than looking
at the past failures of some telecom companies. The telecommunications
Industry Association is now lobbying for different types of
incentive programs to increase broadband exposure to generate
new jobs in the telecom field. There are now other growths
in the telecom field that is really beginning to boon and
they are the WiFi and VoIP. Job growth in the United States
is expected to grow inside the telecom field with new technologies
and advancements in the field of telecom.
No one has really said that outsourcing
is a great way for telecom companies to save money. But most
of the general public are having a hard time giving out personal
information to people that they can hardly understand. The
telecom companies need the public and when their sales start
to go down because of the outsourcing of these type of jobs
they will return their job market to the United States.
Outsourcing may save money in
regards to employee wages and benefits, but in the long run
telecom companies will be losing their much needed clientele.
Because of the language difference
overseas workers are less qualified to provide the correct
level of service for telecom communications expected by United
States consumers. Disclosing personal information or highly
sensitive information concerning United States customers to
companies overseas is not very attractive to many people today.
It is hard enough for most people to give out personal information
on any website today, then they are learning that companies
in the United States are using overseas companies to process
their personal information or are taking it over the telephone
for ordering telecom products.
